Launch OTT with Sub-Operators

A multi-operator network or OTT platform with sub-operators offers a number of advantages in the market. These include greater coverage of subscribers, expansion of the streaming geography, an increase in investment sources and profit, stronger market positions.

Each project to launch an OTT platform with the ability to connect sub-operators is unique and the startup sequence may differ:

Option 1.
  1. Deployment of OTT platform;
  2. Launch of OTT Platform;
  3. Promotion among users and other operators;
  4. Connection of sub-operators.
Option 2.
  1. Deployment of OTT platform;
  2. Connection of sub-operators;
  3. Launch of OTT Platform.
Option 3.
  1. Deployment of OTT platform for operator and sub-operator simultaneously;
  2. Launch of OTT Platform

A sub-operator is the same operator in IPTV/OTT system, but lower in the hierarchy. The sub-operator has similar functionality as the main operator :
  1. Creation of own end-user service, its branding and naming, customized players, own domain, upload of own content, own media servers, coders, VoD server, payment systems;
  2. The sub-operator has access to all functionality of management system: creation of own users database, dealers, administrators.
At the same time main operator may control sub-operator's activity. Also a sub-operator may use content from the main operator.

To launch an IPTV / OTT service in which the operator will connect sub-operators with their own subscriber bases, you need to: prepare the infrastructure, select equipment, install software, upload content, customize the platform interface for each operator and prepare it for launch.

What Does the OTT Platform with Multiple Operators Give to Your Company?

Now

Connecting sub-operators multiplies the network distribution by connecting new subscriber bases, increases the platform's profitability due to the return on investment, including from the revenue sharing.

In the future

Connecting several sub-operators scales your business, leads to the coverage of more potential markets, diversification of the service. You do not compete. You save time and money searching for subscribers by attracting new operators with ready-made bases to your network.

What Is needed?

In order to launch OTT platform with the possibility to connect sub-operators you need:
  • Management system with a sub-operator option, Telebreeze Middleware. It is the full-featured tool for managing IPTV/OTT business. Through the Middleware an Operator manages content and subscribers, DRM, monetization services, statistics, subscibers' personal areas.
  • Customizable Telebreeze Multi-platform Player gives access to the content of sub-operators and supports all the most popular users platforms: Smart TVs, set-top-boxes, mobile devices, PC, media players — tvOS, Roku, Amazon FireTV.
  • Telebreeze Media Server allows content delivery as well as catch up (archive storage).
  • Transcoders are necessary to convert content to IP format, appropriate for Internet streaming. If Cable Operators gets the content in inappropriate format for streaming in IP networks, it must be converted (transcoded). Moreover, transcoders prepare content for adaptive streaming. It's important for streaming through the Internet, especially on mobile networks.

What Is Needed from the Client?

Content sources
Choose sources, get the content rights for channels, audio and video files.
Design kit
Prepare the logos, graphics, and company colors according to our recommendations.
Equipment
Choose location of facilities: rent a cloud data-centre or use own servers for system deployment.
Billing and Payment
Choose payment tools: the integration with existing subscriber payment system or connection to new systems.
Engineers
Organize a technical team to incorporate IPTV servers into existing network architecture, to set a remote access for Telebreeze engineers, to maintain infrastructure after the roll-out.
Promotion
Organize a marketing campaign to attract subscribers. According to our experience, a budget for promotion usually takes from 10 to 30 % of overall budget of the project.

What are the Timelines?

Each project is unique, the roll-out time depends on many factors: your technical capabilities and wishes, the amount of the settings and downloaded content, the number of sub-operators you want to connect.

Which Stages Will We Go Through?
